SQL Server, PASS, and other data mishaps
It was 2 good years
The voters have spoken and I will not be returning to the PASS board as an elected director in 2013. A week ago I wrote a post about campaigning being hard and in it I wrote something that I believe and keep coming back to.
I’ve spent many thousands of hours of my life serving the PASS organization and want the opportunity to spend a few hundred
thousandmore in the same role over the next two years. However, if by chance the community wants to see someone else in my seat on the board I can live with that, there aren’t any bad choices.
As much time and energy as I’ve put into PASS over the years this outcome stung a bit personally but I’ve come to accept the reality of it. Thanks to everyone who supported me in this election cycle, I was truly humbled to receive your support.
Congrats to JRJ, Sri and Wendy. I’m sure yall will do a great job keeping the organization moving forward on the right track.

Thank you for all the work you’ve put into PASS. I’ve seen the things you accomplished and I’m glad I was able to serve with you on the Board. I’m looking forward to seeing the Chapter tools roll out too.

It stung me a bit to see you go as well, But I know you’ll still do many great things for the community. We don’t ever really leave we just take different roles. Always helping out.
Looking forward to enjoying a beer with you at the summit.

Thannks for the reply Pat, I expect you are spot on the mark that we dont ever really leave. I know I dont expect to leave the community, Ill just be looking for other ways to make a difference! About that beer, as long as you’re not taking pictures of it, Im game!

When Rushabh called me to convey the election results, I quickly asked him who made it and that list did not have your name on it.
I had always thought if I got elected I would be jumping out of my chair in joy, go out with some close friends and maybe have a drink etc.
But I did nothing of that. Instead I only felt sad and found myself staring at the wall with a blank look on my face and an empty brain. After a bit, I felt humbled, honored and yet confused.
I don’t know about others, but I will miss you for sure. As a chapter leader, I am so incredibly proud to have you represent us on the PASS Board over the last year.

Sri, I dont know what to say… other than this sort of response points to why you’ll make a great board member!
You should be excited, and you should go have that drink. Heck, Ill share that drink with you at the Summit!

Allen, you worked hard and did a lot of good. I still remember Lynda Rabb telling me about your potential and that I should trust you – she was right on both count. Wrap things up and do a good hand off, and then enjoy a well deserved break!

I appreciate the support and guidance you have always offered, I just dont know how Im going to handle that whole take a break thing. I suppose we’ll see
